Orphek’s OR3 LED bars already have been capturing hobbyists’ hearts and minds and recently we have launched one more OR3 LED Bar – The Blue Sky.
So today we are happy to answer to the questions that are coming from our clients. What is the difference between the new Blue Sky and the Blue Plus and what to choose for the tank.
In this week’s post we are bringing photos taken by our client from Bangkok, Thailand – Mr. Tang Go. (aka @thank_space) showing his brand new OR3 150 LED Bar, the Blue Sky (NEW 2021) Blue /Cyan 450-470nm Extra Strong Fluorescent Coral “pop” for SPS/LPS/Soft and the difference from the OR3 Blue Plus spectrum and how the combination of both look like. We will answer to the questions above with his awesome photos!

So with no further due let’s see what is amazing about this tank:
Client had already 2 units of Atlantik V4 Gen2 combined with 2 OR2 LED Bars over this celebrity 45 gallon reef L shaped tank.
He added the OR3 Blue Sky to bring out the beautiful colors of his corals.
BTW, his amazing reef aquarium was featured in the REEF HOBBYIST MAGAZINE issued in the second quarter of 2020 – volume 14.

Orphek OR3 LED Blue Plus ON
The wide blue spectrum of Orphek OR3 Blue Plus LED Bar
Orphek’s Blue Plus LED Bar will give you the blue/violet spectrum 400-500nm for SPS/LPS/Soft coral growth and wide fluorescent coral “pop”.
As you can see in this first picture, with only the OR3 Blue Plus on the tank received a wide overall color pop, with hues coming from violet to blue. Colors are popping up nicely, specially in the stick corals.
Also it is evenly spread and gentle to the eyes. Coral photos look great under this bar.

The sharper look of the Orphek OR3 Blue Sky LED Bar
Orphek’s Blue Sky (NEW 2021) LED Bar will give you blue /cyan 450-470nm for extra strong fluorescent coral “pop” for SPS/LPS/Soft.
In this picture above only the Blue Sky is on and you can see already the difference between the bars. Here colors are sharper and color popping is taken to a higher level.

When client turned both bars on the tank received both wide and sharp colors combined looking extremely even with a bit more blues and violets.

The Atlantik V4 2020 combines 14 new types of custom made dual core in the nanometer range from 380nm to 850nm for maximum photochemical efficiency, rendering the most natural appearance to the tank form 10K to 50K and providing the UV/Violet and IR LEDs needed.
So here client has turned on all 3 Orphek LED solutions all together and what he got is this amazing light spread with awesome color pop, with an enhanced natural look!

OR2 150/120/90/60 Reef LED Lighting X T5
Orphek has been offering panel style LED lighting solutions for the last 10 years, providing a highly diffused light source and delivering the perfect intensity and spectrum to the reef aquarium in the form of the Atlantik series.
Now combined with our OR3 you can get the ultimate spectrum as if you were using T5s!
The idea was to develop an affordable LED, offering a T5 – like coverage length of the tank, but has all the efficiency, spectrum choice and power associated with LED technology with the following benefits:
- OR3 bar LEDs typically use 50% less power consumption than T5.
- Unlike T5 bulbs, which need to be replaced very 6-12 months, LEDs require no maintenance.
- There is no new acclimation period required for corals – there is with T5 replacement for new bulbs.
- OR3 bar LEDs have an output of around 2 x that of a comparable T5 bulb – meaning less units are required to fully illuminate the aquarium.
- OR3 heat sink is around 41C and the heat is dispersed upwards rather than heating the aquarium water.
