This week, we’re thrilled to be back in Korea, bringing you another showcase of breathtaking reef aquariums and celebrating the passion, creativity, and dedication of a hobbyist who have elevated reef keeping into an art form.
Info of the tank
This beautiful SPS/LPS coral reef aquarium belongs to Kim Minwook.
Two units of Natura iCon were installed above the tank with the included free of charge hanging kit ) and an Orphek OR4 iCon LED Bar was added as supplemental light.
The Reef Aquarium Layout & Corals
Central ridge: A dominant, uneven central ridge of live rock forms a natural spine running laterally across the tank. It creates elevated ledges and shaded pockets below.
Coral matrix: A dense collage of live rock is encrusted with a variety of corals (soft corals, LPS, and some SPS-like forms). The corals are clustered in small colonies to mimic a real reef’s patchwork habitat.
Overhangs and caves: Several overhangs and small cave-like hollows are integrated into the rockwork, providing shelter for small fish and invertebrates.
Substrate: A light-colored sand bed lines the base, with occasional patches of rubble and small coral fragments, offering grazing surfaces and microhabitats.
Large branching corals: Scattered on the upper and mid-level rocks, creating vertical interest and perching spots for fish.
Boulders and outcrops: Larger rock formations create natural barriers and swimming lanes, preventing direct edge-to-edge views and giving hiding spaces.
The corals are positioned on a meticulous framework, with strategically thoughtful distribution across the tank bottom to maintain harmony. All corals exhibit pristine morphology, with no bleaching, stinging, or compatibility issues from proximity.

Kim’s reef glows with a vibrant palette made possible by the Natura iCon and one OR4 iCon LED Bar.
Color accents: A mix of purples, greens, yellows, and pinks from diverse coral colonies adds visual contrast and depth.
Orphek has researched and developed each channel with a combination of LEDs colors and quantity based on the needs of corals; respecting their natural response to light wavelengths; and to provide the best color pop, health and growth spectrum, while giving your tank the natural look, mimicking nature at its fullest.

In the photo gallery below client has captured a glimpse of all the collection of his corals and we can see that they are developing in a very healthy way. Corals developed strong vibrant sharp crispy coloration and they are branching out perfectly!
The fluorescent color of the green, purple-ish and pink corals are popping out, looking both strongly brilliant and natural. Take a look in the next set of photos to witness exquisite species!
As you can see in the next set of photos, corals are also showing good health. Polyps are showing signs of growth, and they have developed strong vibrant sharp pigment coloration and incredible density of coral tissue.
