”I’ve kept marine aquariums for many years and over time I’ve tried most lights, Halides, T5, T5 Hybrid, LED Modules etc. I upgraded my tank 2 years ago and went with a T5 Hybrid as I felt that was the best option to achieve the results I wanted to achieve which was a healthy SPS dominated reef that grew well and was full of colour. I’m not going to have a knock at T5’s as they are good lights and will grow anything well but my tank is 1.8m long and my light was 1.5m leaving shadows at the end. I decided I wanted to go full LED so which one to choose? After lots of deliberation I decided on Orphek primarily because I could go with a lower number of units due to the immense coverage and the controllability etc.

Customer service has been outstanding, I asked many questions and always received a quick response without the hard sell, and now I know why – these lights sell themselves.

My tank is looking better than any tank I’ve owned, the lights are extremely controllable, and aesthetically they tick all the boxes for me.

I’ve now order a frag tank and I’ve another Compact V4 sat waiting to go over it – If your undecided trust me take the plunge, you won’t be disappointed”.

I owe you the return of these superb jewels that are your V4! My aquarium is filled with almost a year, and I just figured out why I had so many coral losses (mainly acropora SPS) … Copper with a high rate in the water! The tray measures 2000x700x530 mm (742L), Berlin method. It works with skimmer and calcium reactor in the field of technology as well as a DSB 75l and a cryptic refuge 100l. I intend to dedicate this aquarium to corals of type acropora to 85%, the few Lps which are currently inside the soon placed in a second tank. I have only one layer of sand at the moment but I see the thickening and the decoration is made of 100% Aquaroche. Before receiving the V4 my tank was illuminated by 3 ramp led Hydra52 of which I was satisfied more that on lost in intensity in 2 years. Having already had Orphek V1 I know that the lifespan of the LEDs is longer than on most other lighting led. “I received my V3 Compact Plus about a month ago and can’t say enough about it. The spread, evenness of PAR, color and UV florescence are far superior to my Radion Gen3 Pro. With everyone talking about going back with T5, MH and hybrids, I wanted to try something different. Within days, my SPS polyps came out more than ever before. Acros and montis I’ve had for months colored up within a week! They’re also encrusting more and growing thicker and more natural. The most impressive thing is very high Kelvin without all that blue. With all these manufactures using light pucks for color blending, Orphek doesn’t and provides better blending and no disco ball effect (unlike those who use light pucks to stop it). Light pucks always provide terrible coverage and hot spots, which require buying more and more light fixtures for SPS tanks. Also, the Orphek doesn’t have glaring light coming out the side of the lenses like other fixtures”.

“I have used fluorescent and metal halides lights since I started in the hobby (1996) with a lot success but my biggest problem was keeping a constant temperature in the tank? So when I moved to the 210 gallon tank I installed a chiller as part of my system set-up. I went through two different light fixtures because of fan noise and the heat from the metal halides made it almost impossible to do any work in the tank while they were on. I switched to the Atlantik and have been extremely happy with their performance and the quality of the lights. It takes a little time to figure all the features but I will not trade them for any other lighting system. Thanks, Alvin”

“Hey , thanks for checking in. The light is great! When I purchased this light I was thinking that I was gonna go the SPS route. But after i took a long hard look at stick corals I realized that I like LPS and softies. There are too many gorgeous Stick tanks out there and figured why not have a gorgeous LPS dominated tank ! Right now I am running the blue channels at 75% and the whites at 15%. The colors have popped on all of my corals and polyp extension is the largest I have seen! Growth has also exploded but I think that is because of the lights and the heavy feeding that I have been doing lately. So I can’t really say anything that is bad with this light! Having a lot of power is never a bad thing, and I love the controllability of the different channels. I am extremely happy with this light. Thanks Adam D.”

“Hi , Thank you for the follow up. I LOVE my Atlantiks! My tank still is not a show tank yet as I started with designer SPS frags, but I have experienced significant growth from them as well as coralline. I would say that they are perfect blend of color and growth. Best of all is the amount of PAR I get even at the bottom of the 30″ tank. Even with the lights closer to the surface I get really good spread as well. When I get home I will take a shot of my pink Bird’s nest as it has been the fastest grower. “It’s been awhile and have finally gotten a few photos to share with you. Here is my 200 gallon (48?x36”x27?) with 4 PR 156, the two models on the left are the originals with no red or UV led bulbs. I run the lights for a little less than 9 hours a day. The original canopy was too compact for the ORPHEK LED’s so I had to do a quick modification and this is what I came up with lol. My next purchase is going to be a custom fabricated canopy that will house everything similar to this ghetto 2×4 set up. I am very pleased with my LED fixtures from ORPHEK and look forward to many years of happy reef keeping thanks to ORPHEK LED’s.”

” Also the Daisy Polyps I have are spreading out by the day. I’m not kidding. I’ve had these for about a year and they’ve grown maybe by 30%. I noted where the border was 3 days ago and has grown 1/4″…..in 3 days!
I bought a piece of SPS 2 weeks ago. When I got it from the LFS I wasn’t thrilled with it because it was a boring brown color. But the owner told me it was the hardiest one he had. It has since gotten this very pretty green color to the tips.
Oh and by the way, the diatom breakout I had went away within a few days. All clear on the algae front:)”

Jim Gorny I have a 156w over my 58 gallon, and absolutely love it. Coral growth in LPS and SPS, the color is great, the timers are set an forget, and customer service was absolutely helpful after I lost the control unit if flooding over the summer. I wish I would of picked up the unit with UV’s though. I think that would make a few more colors pop out. But I am so happy with the light as is that I would recommend everyone consider it for their needs. Video Links:

And IMO you couldnt have gotten better or quicker service. I will always speak highly of this company and their product. I definitly will be buying three more units from them for my new build.

I have recently had a guy from Oceanreefs in Perth come have a look/experiment and was quite taken back on the style,brightness, build etc of the lights but what got him most was we have done an experiment with some acros under these lights and the growth and colour has been exceptional….Considering i never had any under there before and am still suffering from NEW tank blues…………Orphek say these lights are replacements for 250W-400W metal halides and thats exactly what they do……….”

“It took me maybe 5 minutes to figure out the timer, pretty easy the only negative is the button are very close together and small so sometimes you hit 2 button at once. No big deal really, how often do we mess around with timers, the unit is very sweet it looks sharp and well build, the fans are really quiet. I am very happy with it.”

So in a long run it would save me electric and running fan from the heat. the color is very bright, but I don’t get the spread like the 2 x radium. I noticed that there are spots with low light. We’ve had ours since Oct 2010 and loving the colors it produces, far better than what we were getting with out MH & T5 setups.

because it was nearly bleached and all color was lost (looked brown in the colored parts). Hope you guys can see a difference, look closely at it.”

“I gotta be doing something right. This came to me a couple of weeks ago. It was purple and faded and none of that blue. It’s got purple polyps and the purple/blue color is amazing. Purporites. It’s already encrusting the rock that I glued it onto. This photo is untouched by photoshop. THANKS ORPHEK!!!!”

It was installed 30cm above water level. I’d like to thank you for the best service and above all superior product. How can I make best use of the fact that It has 16 programs on the timer? Each unit start with the night light first and continue with the day light and goes off the opposite way. What use can I do with other programs? Regards, Eyal.”

Comments and Photos of Orphek client’s tanks – Part one

“It took me maybe 5 minutes to figure out the timer, pretty easy the only negative is the button are very close together and small so sometimes you hit 2 buttons at once. No big deal really, how often do we mess around with timers, the unit is very sweet it looks sharp and well built, the fans are really quiet. I am very happy with it.”

“Today is the first day the Orphek has been running. I really can’t believe the size of the corals in particular the acans. They are huge and the color is amazing, they were never this size under the previous lighting. This has to be the best mod so far on this tank and for lps highly recommended.”
