Natura iCon is made of acrylic and high quality anti-rust/anti-corrosion aluminum alloy.
Anti-rust & anti-corrosion process:
Orphek Natura iCon is made of high quality silver Aluminium alloy, therefore it will never rust even in salted water! It is important to know that the silver color of our Aluminium is not in fact color. We are using electric anodized Aluminium alloy.
What does it mean?
Anodizing is an electrolytic process for producing thick oxide coatings, usually on Aluminium and its alloys. The oxide layer is typically 5 to 30µm in thickness and is used to give improved surface resistance to wear and corrosion, or as a decorative layer. This process artificially changes the structure of aluminum oxide on the surface of the metal, therefore it provides a surface finish that is more durable, stain-resistant, and corrosion-resistant.
Over the years, if there will constant direct contact with salted water, it might revert the anodic oxide finishing, turning the Aluminium to its original state before the anodizing process. But it does not mean that the water of your tank will be contaminated in any way or become a threat to the living creatures of your aquarium.
