“For most of history, man has had to fight nature to survive; in this century he is beginning to realize that, in order to survive, he must protect it.”  – Jacques-Yves Cousteau

Coral reefs are among the most extraordinary natural wonders of the world’s oceans.

Owning a marine aquarium is not only a relaxing and rewarding hobby but also an educational journey—learning about life cycles, environmental responsibility, and contributing to the preservation of marine species.

However, the beauty of corals is matched by their fragility, and maintaining a thriving reef requires a significant financial investment and a true dedication to caring for the living organisms you bring into your home. Experience comes with time, patience, and continuous learning. Ensuring the health of your aquarium’s inhabitants is an ongoing process that demands careful attention and commitment.

Lighting is just one of many essential pieces of equipment needed to maintain a successful aquarium. Alongside skimmers, filters, pumps, and more, Orphek specializes in providing optimal lighting solutions but does not design, install, or maintain your entire setup. Your responsibility as an aquarist includes monitoring and regulating various environmental parameters, which are critical for the health, growth, and coloration of your corals.

To maintain ideal conditions, consider regularly checking and controlling factors such as:

  • The placement of your tank and lighting
  • Coral placement and compatibility
  • Quality and suitability of your equipment
  • Health and selection of corals and fish prior to purchase
  • Proper quarantine procedures for new additions
  • Water quality, including filters, skimmers, and chemical balance
  • Water temperature, salinity, and circulation
  • Testing key parameters: Nitrite, Nitrate, Alkalinity, pH, Ammonia, Calcium, Phosphate
  • Correct mixing and addition of saltwater
  • Proper feeding for fish and corals

Reef keeping demands planning, patience, time, and constant care. We strongly encourage you to educate yourself about coral and marine life requirements before purchasing. Planning ahead and understanding the standards for your chosen species greatly increases your chances of success.

Upgrades and Repairs:
Some of our products may be subject to upgrades or repairs that involve opening, dismantling, and reassembling. We recommend that any such work be performed exclusively by qualified technicians or licensed professionals. Improper handling or unauthorized modifications can cause damage to the product and void the warranty.

Installation and Upgrades:
Any installation or upgrade involving electrical work, plumbing, or modifications to your aquarium setup should be carried out by a qualified professional. If you lack the necessary skills or experience, we strongly advise hiring a licensed technician to ensure safety and proper functioning. Improper installation or modifications can pose safety hazards or damage your equipment and aquarium.

Before attempting any troubleshooting, please perform a comprehensive check of all environmental parameters to identify potential issues. Please remember that Orphek’s warranty covers defects in our products only. It does not extend to your aquarium setup, environment, or the health of your livestock.

Important: Orphek cannot be held responsible or liable for any loss or damage to your aquarium, corals, or other life forms resulting from the use, improper installation, or misuse of our products. Lighting is only one component of a healthy aquarium environment, and many factors influence success. Since we do not offer installation or maintenance services, the proper setup, installation, and ongoing care of your aquarium and equipment are ultimately your responsibility.

We wish you all the best in your reef-keeping journey. Keep reefing, and enjoy the beauty of your marine aquariums!
